How it works in Ethiopia
- The eSIM runs on local networks.
- Expect 4G in towns. Outside them it depends on where you are.
- This country is outside EU roaming. Czech operators charge a separate data bundle here and the price depends on the operator. An eSIM here starts at 169 Kč.
How much data to take
- 1 GB — A weekend in Ethiopia: maps, chat and the ride from the airport.
- 3 GB — A week in Ethiopia: maps, chat and social apps without much video.
- 10 GB — Two weeks in Ethiopia, a hotspot, or video.

FAQ
How fast is mobile data in Ethiopia?
The eSIM uses local carrier networks with 4G/LTE and 5G where available, so speeds match a regular local plan.
Can I use a hotspot?
We do not block a hotspot ourselves. The local network may limit it. On a daily plan, the rest of the day is slower once that day’s data is used up.
Do I get a phone number?
A data eSIM contains only data. WhatsApp, iMessage and other apps keep working on your original number. If you need a local number, set up an Atlayo virtual number.
When does the validity start?
Fixed and daily plans both start on the first connection at your destination, not at purchase. On “Fresh every day”, full speed comes back about every 24 hours.
